Updated Online Pharmacy Policy
A Message to our Valued Clients:
We’re reaching out to inform you of an important update regarding how we handle prescription authorizations for outside or online pharmacies. After thorough deliberation, we've decided to shift our approach. Our top priority is delivering top-notch care for your pet, and we aim to dedicate our efforts toward addressing your concerns and your pet's needs. We deeply value the privilege of caring for your pets and are committed to prioritizing their health and well-being moving forward.
Our staff spends a considerable amount of time every day facilitating communication with outside/online pharmacies. We would love to be able to redirect this time and energy back into enhancing our in-person services for you and your pets. Additionally, communicating with these third-party vendors can often lead to misunderstandings and repeated refill requests, which consume extra staff time and cause delays in promptly receiving your pet's prescription.
If online ordering is your preference, we recommend ordering from our affiliated online pharmacy, Vet Source. When purchasing from our online pharmacy, you are still buying the medication from a veterinarian and have the guarantees that come with those purchases. You can be assured your purchase is backed by the manufacturer’s guarantee and is being stored, handled, and delivered under appropriately regulated conditions. Should there be any concerns regarding efficacy or palatability or if your pet has an adverse reaction to medication, we are empowered to help secure resolution. You will still have the convenience of having your order sent directly to your home and you will also be able to take advantage of manufacturer rebates.
As always, a recent (within a year) comprehensive examination must be on file to refill or write a prescription, regardless of the location to be filled.
We respect that you have a choice as to where you purchase your pet’s medication. If you choose to purchase medications from other retailers, we recommend that you do so from an accredited and certified veterinary pharmacy. We are happy to provide you with a written prescription upon request that you can send to the pharmacy of your choosing.
Starting January 1st, 2025 instead of processing orders (via phone or fax) from online suppliers or outside pharmacies (except for compounding pharmacies for a specific medication formulation), we will happily provide you with a written prescription that you can pick up at your convenience, during our business hours. Please allow us 72 hours to complete these requests, we will do our best to include a year’s worth of refills when appropriate.
Thank you for being a client of Newberg Veterinary Hospital, we look forward to seeing you and your pet(s) soon.
